Special connection of the Holy Lady with the Martyrs

Memory of Martyr Abdul Husain Boronsi :

(as narrated by the martyr’s wife)

I woke up from my sleep and heard that someone was crying loudly. As I went into the corridor, I guessed that Abdul Husain is awake and is reciting his prayers.
But when I saw him he was sleeping, first I got scared and then I noticed that he is talking to *Lady Fatima (sa)…*
Not only speaking but he was crying and telling her about his pain. He took name of few of his martyred friends and said, “My dear mother, they all left, when is my turn? What should I do….?” *And he cried like a mother who cries for her young dead son….*

Love is …..

In honour of Faatima and Ali (a)…
Love is…
Love is the shyness of Ali in asking for Faatima’s hand in marriage Love is Faatima’s whispers to her Lord to choose from among the best of His creatures Love is Faatima’s modesty in the approval to marriage which was just too good for speech Love is Ali’s materialistic wealth consisting of a sword, a shield and a camel was all that he had to give Love is Faatima’s generosity in giving away her precious wedding gown to a beggar at the door Love is Allah sending a wedding dress specially made in heaven, just for her Love is Allah commanding angels in the heavens, to witness when Faatima wed Ali Love is the singing of the birds in the heavens and showering of pearls, gems and rubies, from the tree of Tuba Love is Ali noting the true beauty of Zahra, when he said, ‘She was the best companion in worship’ Love is the birth of Hassan, Hussein, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum out of purity Love is Ali helping Zahra with house chores after a long day at work Love is Zahra’s sweet voice illuminating the house of Ali with the glorification of Their Lord Love is preparation of food so pure, so delish, all while taking care of the kids and thanking Allah for all the blessings Love is the fast kept by the family and even the servants, for the pleasure of Allah to make the kids well again Love is the giving up of food in Allah’s way, for three consecutive days of fasting to the poor, orphan and captive Love is Faatima’s status when Allah describes the Ahlal Kisa as ‘Faatimatu, Wa abuha Wa Ba’luha Wa Banuha’ Love is Faatima holding back from asking Ali of things he was not able to give Love is the tears that Ali cried for Faatima’s pain upon her father’s death Love is the companionship and support Faatima offered when Ali felt alone after the Holy Prophet’s death Love is the loss of Mohsin, when Ali was captured and Faatima’s door burned down Love is Ali supporting Faatima in fighting for Fadaq, a land that righteously belonged to her Love is Faatima not complaining of her own wounds when Ali was going through a lot Love is Ali letting Faatima, his beloved, his soul-mate, his companion in worship, the beat of his heart return back to Their Lord Love is Ali shrieking and wailing when he saw Faatima’s ribs bruised and fractured, a secret she painfully kept. But like most marriages, it didn’t end there…it goes on to show the world how long love can really thrive.

It overcame Muawiyya’s poison, it defeated Shimr’s dagger. It sacrificed thirsty infants and tired old-aged companions. It traveled through barren valleys on the backs of saddleless camels. It saw the darkest of the dungeons. Met heartless of all people, but was always God-Conscious. If that wasn’t enough, it went onto survive the Ummayyad’s strife and the Abbasids’ poison for many generations after that. They tried to destroy it, but it lived. In fact it thrived. And it still stands strong today in form of hope, and salvation that the world awaits. It is the only hope left for this world and illuminates the heavens above, by the permission of the All Mighty Lord.

Some say love is a noun, others think it’s a verb. There are hundreds of stories I’ve heard and poems I’ve read, but none give love it’s true meaning between two beings, like the love of Faatima and Ali.

People show me love that lives for a few decades. Here, I’ll show them eternal true love that lives in the heavens and the earth.Faatima and Ali have given love an eternal meaning. So what exactly is this love between Faatima and Ali? This Love is Allah and only Allah, who has been between Faatima and Ali, all the while!

Surah Kauthar and Fatima(sa)

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

This Surah is known as a Meccan Surah, but some believe that it may be Medinan. Some others have said that this Surah might have been revealed twice; once in Mecca and once in Medina, but the narrations cited on the occasion of its revelation attest to the first idea which says it is Meccan.
Occasion of Revelation
The following is a story told about the occasion of the revelation of Surah Kawthar: ‘As-ibn-wa’il, who was one of the chiefs of the pagans, met the holy Prophet (S) coming out of the Sacred Mosque. He spoke with him (S) for awhile.
In the meantime, a group of authoritative men of the Quraish were sitting in the Mosque watching him from a distance.
When ‘As-ibn-Wa’il entered the Mosque they asked him:
“To whom were you speaking?”
He answered:
“With this abtar one”.
He used this word for the holy Prophet (S) to taunt him, because he (S) had two sons born of Lady Khadijah; Qasem and Taher (also called ‘Abdullah) who died in Mecca and so, there was no live male issue from the holy Prophet (S). Hence after, the Qur’an applied this name to the enemies of the Prophet.
The Arabs used to call the one who had no son /abtar/, and ‘abtar’ means ‘the animal whose tail is cut off’. So, then. it means the one whose succession in his seed has ceased, i.e., the one who has none to inherit him. To console the holy Prophet (S), this Surah was revealed with the glad tidings of the greatest amount or the highest degree of the grace of Allah, bestowed on him.
Those people traditionally considered the male child extraordinarily valuable and thought of him as a substitute for the father. They happily imagined that with the demise of the Holy Prophet (S) his program would cease because he had no son to substitute him to continue it.
The revelation of this Surah was, in fact, an answer to the enemies of the Apostle to inform them that Islam and the Qur’an would remain and ceaselessly continue, forever.
The Virtue of Studying the Surah
On the virtue of the recitation of this Surah, a tradition from the holy Prophet (S) says:
“He who recites it (Surah Kawthar) Allah will quench his thirst from the streams of Heaven and will recompense him good rewards as many as the number of every sacrifice which the servants of Allah make on the day of the Feast of Sacrifice, together with those sacrifices which are of the People of the Book and the pagans.”

The name of this Surah, Kawthar, is taken from the first verse of the Surah.

Surah Kawthar, Verses 1-3
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ
1. “Surely (O Muhammad) We have given you abundance (of good (Kawthar).”
2. “Therefore to your Lord turn in Prayer and Sacrifice.”
3. “Surely your enemy is the one who will be without spring.”

In this Surah, similar to Surah Duha and Surah Inshirra, the holy Prophet (S) is addressed. One of the objective points in all three Suras is that of consoling him when he was faced with a magnitude of painful incidents and numerous taunts by the offensive language of his enemies.
“Surely (O Muhammad) We have given you abundance of good (Kawthar).”
The term /kauthar/ is a descriptive case derived from /kathrat/ with the meaning of ‘a lot of goodness, or blessing’; while gracious persons are also called ‘Kawthar’.
What is the purpose of using the term ‘Kawthar’, here? A narration says that when the holy Prophet (S) sat on the pulpit and recited this Surah, some of the companions asked him what it was that Allah had given him and he answered:
“It is a stream in Heaven, whiter than milk, more clear than a goblet (of crystal) with dome-shaped ornaments from pearls and rubies…”
Another tradition from Imam Sadiq (as) says:
“Kawthar is a stream in Heaven that Allah granted His Apostle for his son (who died in his lifetime)”.
Some have also said the purpose of using the word ‘Kawthar’ is for the Pool of Abundance (haud-i-kauthar) that belongs to the Prophet (S) wherefrom the believers quench their thirst when arriving in Paradise.
Some have commented on it as being ‘prophecy’ and some others as ‘the Qur’an’; still others as ‘abundance of the Prophet’s companions and followers’, or the ‘abundance of the descendants’ all of whom came from his daughter, Fatimah Zahra (as), and they multiplied to such an extent that it is impossible to count them.
They are not only, now, but, until the advent of the Hereafter, the reminders of the holy Prophet (S). Some have also commented on it as being ‘intercession’, narrating a tradition from Imam Sadiq (as) in this connection, as a reference.
Even, Fakhr-i-Razi has narrated fifteen different narrations on the meaning of ‘Kawthar’.
But, it seems that most of them are the statements of the clear examples of this broad concept, because, as was mentioned before, ‘Kawthar’ means ‘goodness and blessing in abundance’, and we know that Allah, the Graceful, granted the holy Prophet (S) so many blessings so that each of those mentioned in the above is one clear example of them. There are also many other examples that may be cited as example commentaries for the verse.
However, all the divine gifts granted to the holy Prophet (S) in all aspects, even the victories in his expeditions against his enemies, and the scholars of his followers in the Muslim community, who guard the burning torch of Islam and Qur’an, in every period and age, and carry it throughout the world, all in all are involved in this ‘abundance of good’.
It should not be forgotten that Allah revealed these verses to His Prophet’s holy heart at the time when the manifestations of this ‘abundance of good’ had not yet appeared. It was a miraculous piece of news which informed about the near future and the remote future regarding the legitimacy of the holy Prophet (S).
This great blessing and the
‘abundance of good’
needs a lofty thankfulness, although creatures can never thank the Creator for His blessings, fully, because even the success of being thankful is another blessing from Him which needs thankfulness.
When it is so;
“Therefore to your Lord turn in prayer and Sacrifice”.
Yes, He is the One Who grants these blessings, therefore, prayer, worship and sacrifice, which is also a kind of worship, itself, have no meaning save for Allah, particularly in regard to the meaning of the term Lord which indicates the constancy of grace, providence and Lordship of Providence.
Briefly, ‘worship’, in the form of prayer or making a sacrifice, is only the Lord’s and Benefactor’s privilege, and it is exclusively for the Pure Supreme Being.
This refers to the behaviour of the pagans who used to prostrate and sacrifice to the idols while they knew their affluence belonged to Allah. and in any case, the phrase ‘your Lord’, used in the verse, is a clear evidence for the necessity of ‘intention with divine motive’ in worship.
Many commentators believe that the purpose, involved here refers to the prayer on the Feast of Sacrifice, and making sacrifice on the same day. But, the meaning of the verse is apparently general and inclusive, even though prayer and sacrifice of the Feast on the day are of its clear examples.
Perhaps, using the term /wanhar/ based on /nahr/, which is specific to butchering a camel, is for the reason that sacrificing a camel, amongst other offerings, enjoyed a higher importance for the Muslims of that time who liked it very much, and thus, its butchering was not possible without the showing of generosity.
Here are two more commentaries on the above verse:
1. The implied meaning of the phrase /wanhar/ is ‘facing Qiblah (the direction of the Ka’ba) when saying a prayer’, because the word /nahr/ originally means ‘throat’ then, it has been used with the meaning of ‘standing in front of anything’.
2. The purpose involved, here is the ‘raising of the hands up to the throat and face’.
A tradition says that when this Surah was revealed, the holy Prophet (S) asked Gabriel:
“What is this /nuhayrah/ that my Lord has commissioned me to do”?
Gabriel said:
“This is not /nuhayrah/. Allah has, however, commanded you to raise your hands at the beginning of prayer when you say /allahu akbar/ and when you are going to perform bowing or prostration and after that, because our prayer and that of the angels, in the seven heavens, are like this. Everything has an adornment and the adornment of prayer is raising the hands at the time of saying /allahu akhar/”.
There is another tradition from Imam Sadiq (as) who, on the commentary of this verse, indicating with his holy hands, said:
“The purpose is that you raise your hands so that your palms be towards Qiblah (the direction of the Ka’ba)”.
There is no problem in combining all these meanings, in particular, there are many Islamic narrations about raising the hands at the time of saying /allahu akbar/. Thus, the verse has such a vast meaning that it covers all of them. However, the first commentary is the most appropriate.
In the last verse of this short Surah, regarding the taunts made by the chiefs of the pagans to that holy being, it says:
“Surely your enemy is the one who will be without offspring”.
The term /sani’/ is derived from /sana’an/ with the meaning of ‘enmity, spitefulness, and peevishness’; and /sani’/ is the one who possesses these characteristics.
It is worthy to note that /abtar/ originally means ‘the animal whose tail is cut off’ and the enemies of Islam taunted the holy Prophet (S) by saying this with the hope that after his departure from this world and having no son to inherit his position, the dissolution of Islam’s sovereignty would happen. But, Qur’an, consoling the holy Prophet (S) tells him that it is not him who will be without offspring, but surely his enemy is.

Explanation: Lady Hazrat Fatimah and Kawthar

It was said earlier that ‘Kawthar’ has a vast inclusive meaning which is ‘goodness in abundance’ and the examples are many.
A large number of scholars of the Shi’ah school believe that one of the most clear examples of that word is the auspicious existence of Lady Fatimah Zahra (as), because the occasion of the revelation of the verse says that they accused the holy Prophet (S) of being without offspring, but the Qur’an says:
“Surely (O Muhammad) We have given you abundance of good (Kawthar)”.
From this meaning we understand that this ‘abundance of good’ is the very Lady Fatimah Zahra (as) of whom the descendants of the Prophet (S) increased abundantly and thousands and thousands of them scattered in the world preaching his religion and preserving it.
It is a fact that none can correctly count the number of descendants of Hazrat Ali and Fatimah (as) who are recognized as the descendants of the holy Prophet (S), among whom so many great scholars, scientists, writers, commentators, jurisprudents, traditionists and splendid leaders left some outstanding works and unmatched fame in this world, and tried to protect Islam with their donations and devotions.
Here, we encounter a very interesting discussion from Fakhr-i-Razi who, along with other commentaries on ‘Kawthar’, says:
“The third statement is that this Surah has been revealed to reject those who criticized the holy Prophet (S) for his lack of progeny, therefore, the meaning of the Surah is that Allah shall give him a generation which will remain stable through all ages.
And consider this, that although a number of Ahlul-Bait have been martyred, the world is replete with them, where as from the Ummayads (who were the enemies of Islam) there remains no mentionable figure in the world. Then, behold and see how many of the great men of leadership such as Baqir, Sadiq, Rida, and Nafs-i-Zakiyyah are found among them, (the household).”
The Miracle of this Surah
This Surah virtually contains three important miraculous predictions.
On the one hand, it informs the Prophet (S) of the, glad tidings of the
‘abundance of good’,
(although the verb /a’tayna/ is in the past tense form, but it may be as the indisputable tense common to the present and future which has been stated in the form of the past tense) and this ‘abundance of good’ encompasses all victories and successes that were obtained, later, by the holy Prophet (S); were not predictable in Mecca at the time of the revelation of this Surah.
On the other hand, the Surah foretells that the holy Prophet (S) shall not be without posterity, and his generations and descendants shall exist abundantly in the world.
The third prediction of the Surah is that the enemies of the Prophet (S) will be ‘abtar’, i.e., without posterity. This, too, actually happened and those enemies were so rooted out that no trace of their generations can be seen today. Tribes such as the Ummayads and Abbasids, who opposed the Prophet (S) and his prophecy and who enjoyed such a population that their family and children could not be counted, today, of which there is not one of them to be introduced.
Allah and the Plural Pronoun
It is noteworthy that, here and in many other verses of the Holy Qur’an, Allah introduces Himself by the first person plural pronoun, thus:
“Surely We have given you abundance of good (Kawthar)”.
This sense, and the likes of it, is for the expression of Glory and Power, because when the nobility talk about themselves, they announce not only themselves, but, also their commissionaires, and this refers to the power and nobility as well as to the presence of those in obedience along with the commands.
In the verse under discussion the term /an/ is also another emphasis on this meaning and the phrase
/a’taynaka/ ‘We have given you’,
rather than /ataynaka/, is an evidence to the fact that He has awarded him / kauthar/, which, itself, is a great glad tiding to the Prophet (S) in order to keep his holy heart aloof from annoyance resulting from the nonsensical remarks of the enemies, and consequently, languor does not affect his firm determination, and for him to know that Allah is his support Who is the source of all welfare and grace in abundance.

Dua To seek noble moral qualities and good deeds

To seek noble moral qualities and good deeds
Syeda Fatima(sa) Du’a 3 from Sahifa Zahra

O Allah by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation give me life so long as You know that life is good for me and make me die when death is good for me. O Allah, I ask You (to help me attain) sincere speech and fear of You in pleasure and in anger and moderation in wealth and in poverty And I ask You for favors that will not end for delight of the eyes that will not be cut off for satisfaction with the Decree for ease after death for Your sight, and the desire to meet You without any harmful affliction nor any dark trial O Allah adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us guides who are guided, O Lord of the worlds.

Explaination:
“Give me life so long as You know that life is good for me and make me die when death is good for me.”

Masumeen (a.s) always saw life and Death to be spent in the way of Allah. Neither they prayed to have a long life nor did they got into despair regarding it, always stayed contented with the decree of Allah.
Imam Ali (as) said about death “By Allah the son of Abu Talib is more familiar with death than an infant with the bosom of its mother”
When Imam Hussain(as) heard the martyrdom news of his cousin Hazrat Muslim ibn Aquil he said “ O people! death for the descendants of Prophet Adam (AS) is like a necklace in the neck of a beautiful girl. I am longing to meet my ancestors as Prophet Yaqub (AS) was longing to meet Prophet Yusuf (AS). The place of my murder has been fixed where I shall shortly reach. I am seeing the wolves are cutting my body into pieces between Nawadis and Karbala. They are filling their empty stomachs with my body. No change is possible in appointed day of death. God’s Will is our will – the will of the Ahlul-Bait (AS) will not be separated from him…. O people whoever desires to sacrifice his life for us and wants to meet his God may accompany us. Insha-Allah (SWT) I will leave for Iraq tomorrow morning.”

Bibi fatima (s.a) regarded this life as a means to collect provisions for the eternal journey. As stated in the Holy Quran “Say: ‘ Verily my prayer and my worship, my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” 6:162
Some people raise objections imam Hussain (a.s) condition of thirst after the thirst of three days was unnatural some people can train their soul for days to stay without water. Why couldn’t imam stop from over powering him.
Answer: people achieve what they desire and what they work for. As the hadith says Man jadd wajad (he who seeks finds).
Such people suppress their bodily desires as they want to gain control over themselves while having the desire to stay alive with that control. While Masumeen (as) desired only what Allah desired for them. The friends of Allah are not scared of death. Surah Juma states in verse 6&7:
Say: “O you Jews! If you pretend that you are friends of Allah, to the exclusion of other people, then long for death if you are truthful [so that you may receive the Rewards apportioned by Allah for His Friends].
But they will never long for it, because of what they have done before [e.g. distortion of the Scripture and concealment of the Noble Prophet’s (S) virtues]. And Allah is All-Aware of the wrong-doers.

“O Allah, I ask You (to help me attain) sincere speech”

In this part Bibi Fatima(sa) is asking for sincerity. Sincere deeds means purely for the pleasure of Allah without any trace of showing off. Someone who has been granted with the power of intercession ,who is a mustajab (fulfiller of wishes) not just for herself but for others too is teaching us how important it is for us to be sincere while we when we aren’t even sure of our intentions and acceptance of deeds. We must strive for sincerity while praying “Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”(2:201)

“Fear of You in pleasure and in anger.”

In tests and difficulties we pray for relief and we consider our good time a blessing and sign of pleasure of Allah and thus the fear and God consciousness decreases. We do not realize that the good times could be the test and the difficult times a blessing.
Successes and achievements could be tests too.Prophets of God prayed for ( ikhlas) sincerity and pleasure of Allah. Self contentment can result in harm. The Holy Prophet(s) prayed “O Ever Living One, O Eternal One, by Your mercy, I call on You to set right all my affairs. Do not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment)” When asked why he prayed in that manner he referred to the moment of negligence of Prophet Yunus (Surah Saffat verse 139-148)
Even a Prophet can fall into punishment due to self contentment, how can we be satisfied with what we do?

“Moderation in wealth and in poverty.”

A wise person is careful with his wealth and how it affects him/her. Neither excess of wealth should make one engrossed in it nor should the lack of it make one complain. One must pray to be contented. The Holy Prophet(s) once asked a shepherd for some milk, since the shepherd was a miserly person he was hesitant to share. The Prophet(s) prayed for his increase in wealth. Later the Prophet(s) asked someone else, he ran and offered the best he could to the him.The Prophet (s) then prayed for him “Oh Allah grant him the wealth of contentment”. People enquired the reason for different duas for both. He replied “I prayed what he (miser) liked for himself (wealth) while for the one who offered me I prayed what I liked for me (contentment)”

Who is Fatima Zahra?

Who is Fatima Zahra sa?
Daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),wife of Ali the successor of the Prophet, and the mothers of the Aimmah after Ali (as) a blessed lady who came to the land of Arabia for a short time. This is a basic introduction in relation to her family. This can not portray her personality. The Holy Prophet introduced her as his daughter whom he named Fatima who has nine names/titles with Allah. As the Almighty’s ninety names which are His attributes are summed up or combined in His name “Allah”, the nine names are the attributes of the great lady named Fatima(as).
As we cannot comprehend the true recognition of the night of Qadr which is stated by Allah in His Holy Book as “and what will make you comprehend what the grand night is”( surah Qadr verse 2) in the same way it is said “what will make you comprehend who Fatima is?”. This interrogatory style of verse firstly portrays the high status of the subject mentioned and secondly is an invitation towards the path of cognition and encourages us to try to the best of our ability to know more about the great night and the great Lady Fatima.
The name Fatima comes from the root word fatm which means being separated or cut off. Although the creation is disabled or cut off to be able to fully know her but they can reach her until their capacity. If the true essence or reality of this great lady is seeked with an exalted and glorious vision then the cause of the creation is unveiled. As the hadith e Qudsi narrates “Oh Ahmad, if it wasn’t for you I would not have created the universe, and if it wasn’t for Ali, I would not have created you, and if it wasn’t for Fatima I would not have created either of you.”
If the true essence or reality of this great lady is seeked with a vision of understanding then we can see the secret of creation. Allah the Almighty, who is a hidden treasure as quoted in hadith Qudsi “I was a hidden treasure and I wished to be known therefore I created creation and made Myself known to them so that they came to know Me.” The Creator who Himself is a Hidden Creator has made this great Lady Fatima a secret too. He is treasure but a hidden one (kanzun makhfi) while she is hidden too but a store/warehouse where secrets are stored (sirril mustawdeh).
The creation is neither aware of the secret of Fatima nor the treasure of Allah, but the divine treasure is connected to this secret which this Lady holds.
The great scholar Ayatullah Marashi Najafi recited and urged that the dua Allahumma Salle al Fatima wa abeeha wa baleha wa baneeha wa sirril mustaudaeh fiha beadada maa ahaata behi ilmu (Oh Allah send blessings on Fatima and her father, her husband and her sons, and by the secret installed in her (S)) which only is in YOUR knowledge) is included in the qunoot of his prayers.
If the true essence or reality of this great lady is seeked with a vision of love as quoted in the Quran “Say (O’ Mohammad), I do not ask of you any recompense for it, save love of (my) relatives (near of kin)” (42:23) then the words of the Prophet express her as his part. (“Fatima is part of me – whatever makes her angry makes me angry, and whatever pleases her pleases me.”(1)
Part of me reflects towards the connection of the part to the whole, also relects the wholeness and esteemed status of the whole and the attachment of the part to itself. As the Prophet(s) declared Salman is a part of me reflects the status of the Prophet and the dignity which Salman enjoys in realtion with the connection.
When Lady Fatima(as) is seen through this relation as a part of the Prophet (s) alongwith her being the cause and secret of creation then it would reveal her high status which is a source of pride for the Prophet (s) when he declares himself solely (part of me) to be attached to someone who holds this excellance who was created and sent to this world in a unique way through him (see her birth) just as being connected to the Beloved of Allah is an excellance enjoyed by Fatima too.
To know the personality and status of this great lady one must have a vision of understanding and love alongwith blessings and assistance from her. As the author of a book is seeked in order to understand its contents we humbly seek the help of the great lady Fatima Zahra(as) to bless and assist us in gaining her true marifat and accept this humble effort in her way and may it be a cause of pleasure to the Imam of our Time(ajfs) Inshallah.
